New type of laser microscope Scanning a very small but very reliable

In the movie "Fantastic Journey" tells of a miniature submarine was sent to a mission to raise the tumor from the brain of a scientist. Endoscopic though not including a spectacular device but a tool that has great utility in field of medical practice. Endoscopy allows examination of the human body tissue network in a way that fairly safe. However, the results of imaging with endoscopy examination alone can not be 100% reliable in determining the diagnosis for a medical action, and therefore the standard procedure in the endoscopy remain always with taking a tissue sample tissue.

A laser scanning device is very small in size but can produce the appearance (imaging) a very clear and reliable is now being developed by researchers from the Silicon Technology Development Research - Fraunhofer Institute in Itzehoe with in collaboration with researchers from Laser-und Medizin Technologie GmbH in Berlin and the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at Tubingen. This research is a form of cooperation of a new application projects for the endoscope (New Laser Process for Endoscopy) is fully supported by research and technology ministry of the German government.

ikroskop of confocal laser scanning has been used in medicine to analyze tissue samples tissue, cells, or part of the cell. This equipment is more suitable to analyze tissue network than the conventional optical microscope, because the light in the tissue when the tissue was analyzed in fact a fluorescent light. Confocal laser scanning microscope capable of eliminating the interference of light caused by a fluorescent light and capable of producing images with a resolution and very high contrast. In order to use a very useful advantage in action in the body tissue examination is very important to be able to reduce the size of a laser microscope equipment commonly used today - the size of a desk - a fraction of a thousand times smaller.
