Light as a fishing tool

Utilization of light as a fishing tool is closely associated with actual fishing effort in the understanding of fish behavior in response to environmental changes around him. Almost all the fish used in the activity of his life, such as memijah, find food, and avoid large fish attacks or other predators. Light is the main factor for the fish in order to maintain life. On the basis of such knowledge, the fishermen use artificial light fish unttuk encourage certain activities.

In general, the response of fish to the light source can be divided into two groups, namely phototaxis is positive (the fish come close to the source of light) and are negative phototaxis (away from the fish came toward the light source).

The fish that are positive phototaxis in a group will react to the arrival of light in the direction of the light come and gather around the light in the distance and a certain timeframe. In addition to avoiding predators attack (predator), some theories say that the fish gathering around the lamp is to foraging activity.

However, the level of interest in fish and pack the fish on the light source varies among species of fish. Differences are generally caused by differences Phylogenetic and ecological factors, as well as by the physical characteristics of light sources, particularly the level of intensity and wavelength. Study results that some researchers say, not all types of light can be accepted by the fish eye. Only light that has a wavelength in the interval 400 to 750 nanometers is able to fish caught by the eye.
