The types of rounters

In general, a router is divided into two types, namely:

* Static router (router static): is a router that has a static routing table is set manually by network administrators.
* Dynamic router (router dynamically): is a router that has a dab to make dynamic routing tables, by listening to network traffic and also to interact with other routers.

[edit] Bridge vs. Router

How a router similar to the network bridge, which they can pick up the network data packet and can also divide the network into several segments, or unify network segments. However, the router runs on the third layer of the OSI model (network layer), and using the addressing scheme used in that layer, as well as IP addresses. Meanwhile, the network bridge to walk on the second layer of the OSI model (data link layer), and using the addressing scheme used in that layer, the MAC address.

Then, when the use of the network bridge done and when the use of the router do? Bridge, should be used to connect network segments that perform the same network protocol (for example: IP-based network segment with other IP network segment). In addition, the bridge can also be used when there are in the network protocols that can not do routing, such as NetBEUI. Meanwhile, the router should be used to connect network segments running berebeda network protocols (such as to connect the IP network segments with IPX network segment.) In general, routers are smarter than the network bridge, and can increase network bandwidth, since the router not continue the broadcasts to a destination network. And, the use of a router that is most often done when we want to connect our network to the Internet.
